One crazy day, in the wee hours of the day, I saw an a picture of a felt deer (or bambi as my friend Ah Pearl would call it) and decided that it would be cool to replicate it for her. But after making the felt deer, it felt kinda incomplete as a cut out and I then decided to make a pouch out of scrap felt I had from making my peter pan collars.
The result:
What do you think? It was also my first time trying to sew words on fabric using this tutorial! It was quite a fail attempt to me but oh well :( The stitches on the deer looks horrid because I cut it from hard white felt, cause the initial idea was just for it to be a cut out. Should have used normal soft felt, I know… But I really really love the pink felt button from Daiso though!
The pouch inspired me to make more and a series of felt animal pouches was born!
The journey to make these pouches was definitely not the easiest. It is most possibly the most I have EVER sewn in a day.
The felt animals were all cut, glued, sewn individually and then glued and sewn onto the grey felt (which I absolutely love!!!) again. This many steps was needed to make sure the felt pieces do not fall apart again like how Jack Sparrow the Owl did! I think they all turned out quite sturdy. Really hope I don’t hear stories of a missing eye on any of them! haha
Firstly, I had a few fail attempts in trying to create a felt lemur (for the dearest Fern). Look at it. Does it even look like anything close to a lemur to you?
It was a hopeless attempt trying to salvage it anyway so I gave up on it and replaced it with a black cat :’)
Doesn’t look like a scary black cat right? I really hope not because I kinda dislike black cats and their green eyes. They look quite scary.
The second little problem was the horse for Tze.
Does it look weird to you??? I went around asking my sister and brother and Amz if it did. They all said it was missing a mouth. I did try to sew one on but it looked even weirder to me so I just left it as it is in the end. Oh well. I tried. haha.
That’s not all. Wendy‘s swine (or pig as I would rather call it hahaha) looked kinda weird to me also. sigh.
I have no idea why it looks weird but maybe because it’s too white for a pig? What do you think? Thankful that Wendy still thinks it looks okay though. oh well! This just means my amateur skills need to be further improved on! haha.
And now, a mini Jack Sparrow the Owl on the pouch I made for Amni!
This is my personal favourite out of all the pouches I made! My sister said it’s an ugly herp derp owl cause of it’s eyes but I love love love the eyes. I was planning to cut the squares into circles for the eyes (but I suck at cutting round shapes) so I kinda figured out that I might as well just leave them be. Turned out to be uber awesome! I love it. More than my bunny pouch for real!
Here’s my little bunny pouch! Looks bigger than the rest cause I made it bigger to fit my HTC One X haha. The others are kind iPhone sized pouches.
One fine day, after a trip to MUJI , I ended up exiting MUJI with a plain $2 something bag (I can’t remember the price T_T) with the website’s URL stamped at the side (MUJI has stamps and ink you can use for free if you purchase the bags!). Ah Pearl said I was totally doing free advertisement for my site and it was this particular comment that gave me the idea to customise this plain eco bag!

Equipped with my Daiso felt, cloth and sewing box, I decided to sew on my factory of dreams logo onto the bag (you can see the logo on the left side of my tumblr).

Tracing the logo onto paper and then cutting out the pattern/shapes to cut the felt shapes out.
